Not Just a Cleanse

Posted on May 04, 2012 by Mary Patterson

Today is Day 1 of my 3 week cleanse that I participate in full 2 times a year and do mini versions of probably another 2 times a year if I feel myself swaying off track. I love this program. It has been tweaked and mastered for results and to fit the real person's life! I started my morning with a nice coffee mug of lemon water and for breakfast today, I had my "fruit cereal." I sliced a banana and kiwi, and tossed a nice handful of almonds and walnuts in a bowl. I sat and enjoyed the creel with a fork. After teaching boot camp and going for a short run, I recovered with half a serving of Cinch in Water. I now sip my green tea looking forward to a nice brown rice wrap with veggies and chicken for lunch!

Many experts believe that the average person has 5 to 20 pounds of accumulated waste in their colon. Yuck.  Poor diet, lack of exercise, stress, drug intake, lifestyle and a variety of other factors can lead to an unhealthy colon and your colon may lose its ability to properly eliminate all the waste materials from your digestive tract. An unhealthy colon leads to an unhealthy body. Signs of an unhealthy body include:

  • skin problems (blemishes, dry patches, etc)
  • bad breathe
  • a white tongue
  • pain and stiffness in the joints
  • muscle weakness
  • overall fatigue (no you should not always be tired)
  • premature aging (leather skin, too many wrinkles, loose skin, a tired body)
  • bloated belly, constipation, stomach pain

Keeping a clean colon and clean running body is important. This may be one of the reasons why we are bombarded with cleanse programs and products all the time. In the Spring, your body has a natural desire to cleanse itself. (Have you noticed more advertisements of cleanse programs lately?)

I was always very curious about this topic and so began a journey of studying the importance of detoxing and cleansing the body. During my studies, I began a journey of trying many programs. I will be honest with you, I failed almost all of them. I was hungry, tired, cranky and didn't see the long term purpose of the programs.

Maybe they were cleaning my body, but were they teaching me anything (aside from starvation)?

How was I suppose to keep my life rolling with all the prep work and starvation?

In a perfect world, I would ship myself away to some fabulous spa and detox for as long as my body needed to, but this was the real world and in my real world, this did not happen. Through my research and experimentation, I became good at detecting programs that I would succeed at or that had more to it then just liquid concoctions. I wanted to change habits. Not just lose the five pounds and then go back to old habits and have that five pounds return in 2 days.

Through study, trial and error, using myself and friends and family as testers, a real food, real life, habit forming, life changing, weight losing, mindful, cleanse program was developed! Can you tell I am still struggling to officially name the program? For the past 2 years, I have been presenting to clients a 7 to 21 day cleanse. You choose your level and how long you will go. We are all at different stages and ready for different things. Be comfortable with where you are in life, but don't be afraid to push the edge to healthier. This is more then just a cleanse.

  • You will not only cleanse the toxins out of your body.
  • You will learn what foods work for YOUR body.
  • You will eat REAL food.
  • You will not count calories.
  • You will gain your energy back
  • You will balance the PH of your body.
  • Create healthy habits for life.
  • Learn about the quality of foods in your diet.
  • Motivation and unlimited support from fellow cleansers and your coach.

You will get your life back! (And you will still be able to live your life while on the program!)
