What many people are not aware of is that upon graduating college, I almost entered the Peace Corps. If I could go back in time, I would nudge that just 21 year old and say, "Do it. Crowd out the voices around you and follow your heart." The truth is we cannot go back in time. Sometimes this frustrates me, but as life continues, I realize these little "mistakes" or "wrong turns" that I may have made in the past are not fully mistakes and wrong turns. They are lessons to learn from. They are life's happenings and experiences that have formed me to be who I am today. I need to learn and grow from the mistakes.
That young woman's dream to make an impact and make a difference in other lives is still alive. It has grown and is a bit more mature now to know that as individuals we have the power to make a change and make a difference in others lives through small actions and happenings. No action is too small. Let's take some time out of our busy lives and think about various ways we can make a difference.I am fortunate to be able to do some of this through Gaia Fit.
Gaia Fit looks forward to bringing the community together through our various Gaia Gives programs. We hope to share with the community small and big ways that we can all unite to make a difference in the lives of others.
Our inaugural Gaia Gives event is a shoe drive benefitting Soles4Souls to be held on Saturday, March 3 at 9:30 a.m. We will be running a free 40 minute Boot Camp class at the Rumson Fire House (Map it) in the rear parking lot.
All participants are asked to bring a pair of gently used shoes for donation. Then we will unite with a little sweat and exercise! Clean out your closets, grab the gently used shoes you no longer need and wear, put on your sneakers and join us for a Gaia Fit Boot Camp and Shoe Drive!
Soles4Souls is a Nashville-based charity that collects shoes from the warehouses of footwear companies and the closets of people like you. The charity distributes these shoes to people in need, regardless of race, religion, class, or any other criteria. Since 2005, Soles4Souls has delivered over 16 million pairs of new and gently worn shoes. The shoes have been distributed to people in over 127 countries, including Kenya, Thailand, Nepal and the United States. We are 501(c)(3) recognized by the IRS and donating parties are eligible for tax advantages. Anyone can join our cause, and we need your help.
