Okay okay, I get it. I know.
Money can open many doors. Money is needed to run large campaigns and get the word out even if it means pairing two unlikely partners. Right!?
Am I still crazy to think we need to change this and that it does NOT have to be this way?
The above campaign really got to me and not in a good way.
I can not be more than happy to see a campaign challenge centered around getting families fit in the lowcountry (or anywhere!) and to have it in a magazine that is going out to all the kids in the school getting the Fit Family Challenge in as many hands as you can. The more people that see it the better! Maybe it will inspire someone to start a change in their family. This part is great.
What hits me and hits me hard is the sponsor logo popping out! Coca-Cola!! Really!? Frustrating. Very frustrating, but brilliant marketing on their side.
People are becoming more aware of the dangers and zero health benefits of drinking soda - diet or regular. Just about all of us know at least one person who has lost weight just by quitting their soda habit. So the companies are faced with a problem.
How do they get rid of this bad stigma?
Well, Coca-cola hit the nail right on the head. If you can't beat them, join them. They have partnered themselves up with campaigns - to get healthy.
Children and families everywhere are now associating Coca-Cola with being fit!
I am one frustrated health professional. There are other ways to market and campaign without sacrificing true health. I am making a promise to always find another way and only partner with companies that talk the talk AND walk the walk.
