Guest Blogger and Year of Boot Camp Contest Winner

I can’t even begin to explain in words how excited I am about winning a year of Gaia Fit boot camp.  I had been attending boot camp classes for about a year prior to the contest, and I was hooked even before this wonderful opportunity. When I return to boot camp classes in May, I will have spent over a month off my feet due to having foot surgery at the end of March, so I will have a lot of work to do.



Instead of making simple goals for myself like:  “getting back to where I was”, I want to make 2014 the year I see myself in the best physical condition of my life.  I have learned that it’s better to set goals in concrete, measurable terms, so I hereby make these my goals for using my free year wisely:

  1.  I participate in a physical fitness assessment bi-annually for my job.  It consists of a timed run, sit-ups, pull-ups/hang, a short obstacle course, and push-ups.  I want to beat ALL of my pre-surgery scores on this assessment by the end of 2014.
  2. I want to learn more about nutrition.  I have a lot of experience with food journaling, counting calories, etc., but I know I’m missing the mark somewhere.  I want to learn how to best fuel my body so I can perform at optimum level.  I want to learn one new thing that has a recognizable impact on my fitness through nutrition.

I hope my year of boot camp becomes one of recovery, then one of challenging myself at a level I never have before.  I hope my journey inspires others .. . . I can’t wait to get back to boot camp!!
