What a full year of Gaia Fit boot camp did for Karen!

"I have enjoyed boot camp class so much this past year.  So much that I bought another full year's worth of classes!  Having a regular exercise routine, and the support of my classmates, Mandy and Mary have been a wonderful experience.  I have never stuck with any exercise for more than a couple of weeks, and to know that I have not only done this full year of classes, but I've been doing this for almost 2 years, astonishes me.  You inspire me to be the best I can be, push me when I need that push, and help me become a better, more fit me."

What is the most valuable thing you learned (about yourself, diet, fitness, motivation, etc) while coming to boot camp for an entire year?

During this year of boot camp, I did a couple of weight loss/portion control challenges.  I learned better eating habits and better portion control.  I was not always thrilled to get up and go to class, but my body felt so good afterwards.  I think the most valuable thing was how good my body feels after eating better and exercising.

Average Classes Attended/Week
Twice a week.
Why twice a week and how do you make it happen?
Due to work schedules, I can only get to class twice a week: once on Saturday mornings, and once on Monday evenings.  I actually notice the difference around Wednesday/Thursday without having a class.  That difference in my body is part of the motivation to get me out of bed to get to class Saturday mornings.

Performance Improvements
I'm still not quite where I want to be, but I notice every several weeks that I am able to do some exercise longer/use proper form.  For example, I am able to do laps around the field without walking now, where at the beginning of last year, I know I wasn't able to.

Nutritional Improvements
I think this one is the biggest improvement.  Due to the challenges during the year, I have taken a look at the way I eat as well as the things I eat and have made changes.  I am not perfect, but I am working on getting more greens in my diet, more vitamins, and eating smaller, but healthier portions of food.

Short Term Goals
I'm still looking to lose some more weight, though I seem to have plateaued. But I am slowly losing inches, which makes me happy. I would also like to do the 5 Boro Bike Tour (40 miles) in a better time than last year (6 hours).
Long Term Goals
I would still like to be able to do renegades on my toes for the full length of the exercise (1 min, etc), as well as tricep dips with my feet fully extended.
I have enjoyed boot camp class so much this past year. You inspire me to be the best I can be, push me when I need that push, and help me become a better, more fit me.
